Paranormal Activities Research Group (PARG) has the mission of conducting honest and objective investigations of paranormal events, while maintaining the confidentiality and dignity of all parties. It is not PARG's position to "officially" deem a place "haunted." We are merely trying to gather the information to allow the client to determine whether he/she believes that paranormal activity exists for themselves. If this sounds like something that you would like to be involved with, then please read below.
One important condition of membership is the understanding that our group is only looking for people who will be active within the group. This means that new members agree to participate Online in our private forums as well as attend all required meetings/inservices, and functions (within reason, of course). All members will be given the opportunity to voice themselves, but those members must be active or risk being removed from the group.
PARG does have various policies which are strictly enforced. All members are to read and understand these policies.
The following is a list of the most common positions typically available. Please review them, and the other information, to determine if you would like to apply for a position with PARG.
*Additionally, while the recent influx of television programs which follow "ghost hunting" teams around is great viewing, it is also very deceptive to what will likely really happen during the course of a typical investigation. PARG does not have the financial resources for all of the latest and greatest equipment (and tons of it), and our investigations won't be choreographed and edited to only show the exciting parts. If you are expecting non-stop thrills and excitement, I guarantee that you will be disappointed.*
Investigator
The investigator's primary function is to gather
demonstrable evidence at the location of the possible
activity. Investigators will also perform the research
function (described below) as necessary. Generally, those
in this capacity use video monitoring equipmentment,
various meters, and good ol' common sense to complete an
investigation. Good documentation and communication
skills are also necessary.
Researcher
Researchers are integral in getting the overall picture
of a possible event. Evaluating records, interviews etc.,
the researcher aids the investigator by providing key
facts related to the activity. This may include a history
of the location, information about the current and former
occupants of a location, information regarding the
circumstances of the activity and more. Researchers are
typically internet savvy, understand the value of a
library and public records, and are inquisitive.
Interviewer
The interviewer is truly our "people person." By
tactfully and respectfully questioning persons involved
in a case, the interviewer can provide valuable intel to
the researcher and investigator. The interviewer must be
compassionate, sincere, and able to keep the interviewee
on track with the questioning.
Case Manager
The case manager (CM) is the liaison between the group
and the client. CMs reply to requests for investigations,
coordinate the meetings between the team and the client.
They also assist with any questions or concerns that a
client may have before, during, or after an
investigation. CMs are often the face that people
associate with the group. Therefore, they must project
their sincerity, honesty, and integrity to the client and
the public.
Technology Support
Technology support personnel (TSP) ensure that all
equipment is working and calibrated (if necessary).
Helping to set up, break down, and troubleshoot equipment
and technology, the TSPs help in the collection of video
and audio evidence. TSPs also assist with editing
collected audio and video and decoding files into
playable formats. The typical TSP is tech savvy, computer
literate, and enjoys working with audio and video
equipment.
